Debra Farmer , MSW, LCSW I received my Bachelors of Social Work Degree from Virginia Intermont College in 2001 and I received my Master of Social Work Degree from Radford University in 2003. I began my career working as Social Work Case Manager for a Boys Group Home and later as the CEO until state changes mandating Therapeutic Foster Care caused closure of the home. After the closure of the home I started working in Private Practice and began working towards my licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have worked in a Private Practice setting for over 15 years. I have been at Heatherwood Counseling Center for 3 years. I work with children, adolescents and adults experiencing a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, grief and loss, eating disorders, dual diagnosis, and behavioral issues including sexual acting out behaviors. I have worked with children from multiple settings including foster care, kinship care, or from homes where they have be traumatized and or abused physically, emotional, and or sexually. I also work with adults who have a history of trauma, abuse, neglect and or who have lived through domestic violence.
